We started out the day in the hotel room where the girls were hanging out and getting their hair and makeup done. As we photographed all of Heather’s beautiful details the girls filled the room with laughter! They were all dressed in matching monogrammed shirts that matched the lovely shade of burgundy of their bridesmaids dresses.

Amber left to go photograph Johnny and his groomsmen which were getting ready at a house nearby. Johnny got dressed in socks with his dog’s face on them and a beautiful Michael Kors watch that Heather had gifted him!

Heather and Johnny did not want to see each other before the ceremony so they opted to do a first touch instead. They stood on the porch of Cedar Grove Tchoupitoulas Plantation on opposite sides of a door. As they reached out for each other’s hands you could see all the emotions that they were going through. It was very sweet to watch!

After their first touch Heather went back into the bridal suite while Johnny spent some time with his parents. They facetimed with his sister, who is serving in the military, so that she could see her brother for the first time on his wedding day. It was such an emotional sight that it made even us tear up a bit!

Heather and Johnny had written letters to each other to read right before the ceremony. They did not read them aloud but we could tell how caring their words must have been since they both fought back tears when they were done. We’re sure they will cherish those letters for many years to come!

It was finally time for the ceremony! Heather was such a beautiful bride walking up the aisle with her father. We love seeing how the groom reacts to seeing his bride for the first time, and Johnny did not disappoint with having to wipe away the tears forming in his eyes.

After the ceremony Heather enjoyed showing Johnny her white lace converse! Then it was time for family and bride and groom portraits. After that was done Heather and Johnny were ready for some food and dancing!

If you keep up with our blog and read Heather and Johnny’s engagement blog, you’ll remember that Johnny is from California! That didn’t stop him from having tons of loving family and friends come to their wedding! The dance floor stayed packed all night!

Heather had this to say about her wedding planning experience. “The experience overall was way more stressful than I thought it was going to be, but I enjoyed it for the most part. It was mostly stressful due to the uncertainty this year has brought. I felt very overwhelmed at times, but I kept reminding myself that at the end of the day I was marrying my best friend and all of this stress was going to be worth it, and it definitely is! If I had to, I’d do it all over again! (Maybe not during a pandemic though, lol)”

She offers this advice to other future brides. “My advice would be to start planning as early as you can: save pictures of things you like, create a vision board, and lists are going to be your best friend! Make a million lists and knock a few things off of it whenever you can so you don’t become overwhelmed towards the end. The best thing I did was book my venue and major vendors right away and pick things out early, because so many last minute things come up that you don’t even think of. Also, remember at the end of the day, it’s all about marrying your person! Nothing else matters!”
