Sydney and Scott’s wedding was originally supposed to be in March but because of the pandemic it was postponed a few times. Finally they found a date that would work for them, Halloween! What we didn’t expect was a hurricane to hit 3 days before and knock out the power to most of the city! Talk about stress! Luckily, the venue got power restored the day before the wedding.

Sydney and Scott actually got married on December 10, 2019 at the courthouse. However, they wanted to still celebrate with their close friends and family. They chose to have their intimate celebration at Compass Points in Algiers. Compass Points has a few cottages which allow for the bridal parties to both get ready on location. Super convenient!

Before the ceremony, Sydney requested that we do a first look with her father, brother, nephew, son and last but not least, Scott! All of these special guys in her life had the sweetest expressions while seeing her.

Members of their family donned Halloween themed makeup, and their son was dressed up as a skunk.

The couple chose to do a sweet and simple ceremony.  Sydney’s brother played Eric Clapton’s What a Wonderful World on guitar while she made her way down the aisle. When it was all said and done, you could see how happy and relieved they were that this day was finally here!

At the reception, Sydney and Scott shared their first dance to Come Away with Me by Norah Jones. Sydney’s dad surprised the couple with a performance from Rockin Dopsie Jr., the lead singer in a zydeco band. Rockin Dopsie Jr. sang the father daughter song.

There were a few special touches to their wedding. One was that Sydney wore her grandmother’s ring. Another was the groom’s cake was from his favorite movie, Hellraiser. And, the favors were keys that were actually bottle openers!

Once everyone made it onto the dance floor it was hard getting them off. As the night was coming to an end, everyone’s feet were still going!

Congratulations Sydney and Scott! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
